Good Samaritan Hospital have been named a 5-star recipient for Vaginal Delivery by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This 5-star rating indicates that the hospital's clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when performing the procedure being evaluated.

"With close to 3,500 births a year, our Maternity Departments are clearly dedicated to clinical quality and the finest in patient care," said Mary Leahy, M.D., CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System.

It's no wonder that our Maternity Department has received the 5-star ratings. At Good Samaritan Hospital, Patricia Pollio, M.D., Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Susan Sippel, MHSA, RN, Administrative Director, Maternity, and their team of 140 RNs (Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring-certified), four lactation consultants, 15 physicians and four certified nurse midwives are dedicated to the needs of their diverse patient population.

The unit includes 34 four post-partum private rooms and seven birthing suites, with plans to expand to 10, and two operating rooms with 24/7 anesthesia services.

A 10-bed Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can safely care for babies born at 32 weeks or older who weigh over three pounds. Good Samaritan has a close affiliation with the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU) at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a Member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, so mothers identified as high risk or babies in need of more advanced care are seamlessly transferred there. This nursery cares for babies with every type of medical issue in a family-oriented, professional environment. The RNICU is staffed with specially trained physicians, nurses and health professionals who are experts in the treatment of premature and ill newborns. Each baby receives the personal attention his or her condition requires.
